In the field of social welfare, the application of technology is gradually transforming service models. Choi Hung Community Centre for Senior Citizens of Yang Memorial Methodist Social Service has recently published the practical sharing booklet "時時分享," which is a microcosm of this transformation. Prof. Reynold, the project co-ordinator of HINCare, was invited to write the foreword for this booklet, introducing how the HINCare application helps promote the culture of community time banking.
Currently, the HINCare program has benefited over 9,000 users and accumulated more than 10 million minutes of time credits. Through this mobile application, various social service organizations can efficiently connect volunteers with elderly individuals in need, reducing paperwork and improving service quality, thereby optimizing community resources.
In the booklet, the Yang Memorial Methodist Social Service provides a detailed description of the background, development history, and strategies of the time bank. It specifically discusses how to utilize the HINCare application to promote the culture of community time banking and encourage greater participation among seniors. Through data analysis, they can measure the impact of the time bank on the community and further optimize services.
Additionally, the booklet shares the efforts and achievements of the centre members in advancing the time bank program, showcasing their commitment and passion for elderly services. The mobile teaching courses they offer aim to help seniors overcome challenges in using new technology, further enhancing their motivation and confidence to participate.
These efforts not only promote mutual assistance among seniors but also strengthen community cohesion, allowing each member to feel their value and contribution. Through the time bank, seniors are no longer just recipients of services; they become active participants, which is significant for enhancing their quality of life. This beautifully crafted booklet is not only a practical sharing but also a hopeful outlook on the future development of social services.
The HINCare team extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Yang Memorial Methodist Social Service for their dedicated efforts and unwavering support throughout our collaboration. Their professionalism has been instrumental in facilitating the smooth progression of our project, resulting in a positive impact on the community. We look forward to fostering this partnership in the future and collectively advancing the cause of social welfare.
