The "HINCare(手牽守)" Time Banking mobile application recently made an appearance on Viu TV's medical program "杏林在線." While exploring the mutual assistance model of time banking, the program documented real-life scenarios of elderly individuals in Hong Kong using the HINCare app for community mutual aid services, demonstrating how technology can help the elderly build autonomous support networks.
In the "「照」住你 (II) : 時間銀行" episode, several seniors demonstrated how to use the HINCare app for service matching and time tracking. The footage showed elderly users skillfully operating the application, using the platform to provide services such as home visits and medical accompaniment for their neighbors. They stored their service hours in the form of "time credits," which can be exchanged for assistance from others when needed. This vividly illustrated the practical implementation of time banking in Hong Kong's communities.
The elderly users featured in the program were able to effortlessly perform tasks such as service matching and time recording, highlighting the app's practicality. These real-world usage scenarios provided viewers with a concrete understanding of how the time banking model functions in daily life.
As Hong Kong's first time banking application specifically designed for the elderly, HINCare has partnered with over 20 social welfare organizations and serves more than 20,000 users. The app is now available for free download on both the App Store and Google Play.
